Synopsis

This book will prove useful for students preparing for the G.C.S.E examination in Panjabi according to the new specification. It deals with all the four syllabus areas - Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing. The teaching Materials included in the book are representative of the language as it is actually used in the U.K.

The book will prove useful not only to students preparing for the G.C.S.E examination but also to those who want to improve their proficiency in the language. The dialect of Panjabi which this book teaches is the standard variety used for writing the language and by educated speakers. The colloquial and relatively informal variety of standard Panjabi is used in the passages and dialogues recorded on the cassettes accompanying this book.

The book is divided into six chapters. The first four chapters deal with the four linguistic skills. The fifth chapter is a general chapter which gives further practice in reading and writing. The last chapter gives essential vocabulary in Panjabi and English. Each chapter is sub-divided into topic areas.

This book assumes that the user has attained a certain level of proficiency in Panjabi. To those who are not sure whether they attained this level, I would recommend my 'Panjabi Made Easy Book 1, 2 & 3.

This book has now been revised in the light of the present G.C.S.E specification and is produced in four parts i.e. G.C.S.E Panjabi - Reading, G.C.S.E Panjabi writing, G.C.S.E. Panjabi - Speaking and G.C.S.E Panjabi - Listening.
